Introduction
UPD is looking to recruit a permanent Procurement Portfolio Manager, the role will be based in Roodepoort and will report to the Supply Chain Executive.
Job description

Job Purpose


To manage and control all non-trade procurement within the UPD business unit, across all sites and DC’s. In addition, the role will manage the SAP master data department. This is a new function for UPD necessitated by the implementation of SAP 4/HANA. The function is critical to business as it will be responsible for all Supplier and Product master data.

Job Objectives


Non - Trade Procurement
  • Design and manage a non-trade procurement framework to control non-trade procurement across UPD sites and DC’s
  • Design and deliver policy and procedures to manage and control all non-trade procurement spend
  • Design and manage a set of relevant and measurable KPI’s to manage all non-trade procurement spend
  • Generate savings of at least 1% of controllable non-trade spend.
  • Manage non-compliance and non adherence to procurement policies
  • Contract management - Design and build the process for contract management and digitisation of all current and new contracts.

Master data
  • Design and manage the newly established Master data function
  • Manage the master data team responsible for the creation, maintenance and support of all suppliers and product master data.
(This is a business critical function as the benefits of the new systems is highly dependent on accurate master data)

Governance and Risk Management:
  • Design and manage new processes, procedures and controls that are critical to the strengthening and improvement of the business’ overall governance and risk management objectives across all areas of procurement, inclusive of trade and non-ethical procurement
  • Play a vital role in the future streamlining of processes and extraction of value from the new SAP 4/HANA system.

Minimum requirements

Education Required:


  • Business Science/ B Com degree (essential)

Experience Required:


  • 5 years people management experience (essential)
  • 5 years supplier negotiation experience (essential)
  • Exposure to purchasing in different sectors
  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical or FMCG industry advantageous.

Job Related Knowledge:
