We have an exciting opportunity available for a Digital Product Owner to work within our Martech team. This role will be based at Clicks Head Office, Woodstock, Cape Town and report to the Martech Manager.

Job Purpose
To lead the end-to-end lifecycle of digital products across web, mobile and marketplace platforms, in line with customer needs, business objectives and digital transformation goals, in order to drive increased digital engagement, operational efficiency and revenue growth.
Job Objectives
- To define, prioritise, and launch digital features and enhancements that drive increased revenue, customer retention, operational efficiency, and digital engagement.
- To implement a clear and actionable product roadmap with well-defined backlogs, user stories, and delivery timelines aligned to business priorities and customer needs.
- To translate product vision into clearly defined features, delivery plans, and measurable outcomes, acting as the subject matter expert within agile squads to align stakeholders and enable timely, high-quality digital product releases and continuous improvement.
- To use data, research, and customer feedback to guide product decisions and create user-friendly digital experiences.
- To drive product adoption by increasing awareness of key features and enhancing user satisfaction, in order to increase usage, improving customer experience and maximising business impact
- To define, track, and report on product success metrics such as conversion rate, task completion, CSAT, and NPS, and use insights to improve future releases, drive continuous improvement, and support data-informed business decisions.
- To deliver digital products that are scalable, secure, and compliant with relevant regulations (i.e., POPIA, Cybercrimes Act, CPA, and ECTA), while proactively identifying and mitigating risks early.
- To collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including design, development, QA, and business stakeholders, to ensure alignment and timely, high-quality delivery of product enhancements.
- To manage resources across agile squads and project teams, balancing capacity, timelines, and priorities to support successful product delivery.
Minimum requirements
Job related knowledge
Essential
- Agile product development principles (Scrum, Kanban)
- User story writing, backlog management, and sprint planning
- Strong understanding of digital customer journeys and CX
- Business analysis and stakeholder alignment techniques
- Sound knowledge of POPIA Electronic Info Act, data privacy and digital compliance requirements
- Knowledge of web and mobile technologies
- Ability to interpret usage data and KPIs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Understanding of APIs, integrations, and system dependencies
- Knowledge of customer needs and digital trends
Desirable
- Knowledge of e-commerce, loyalty, or retail-specific platforms
- Exposure to analytics tools (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Power BI)
- Experience in A/B testing, experimentation frameworks
- Understanding of mobile app development lifecycle
- Familiarity with digital integration layers (APIs, CMS, middleware)
- Familiarity with design thinking and usability testing

- 3–5 years as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Product Manager
- 6-8 years experience delivering customer-facing digital solutions
- Proven success in cross-functional, agile delivery environments
- Hands-on ownership of product features or full platforms
- 6-8 years’ experience working with UI/UX design team
Desirable
- Retail, health & beauty, or FMCG e-commerce background
- Experience working with app development or loyalty platforms
- Exposure to DevOps and technical constraints in delivery
- Involvement in CX, personalisation, or loyalty product initiatives
- Leading product launches or feature rollouts at scale
Education
Essential
3-year degree in Business / Information Systems/ Digital / E-Commerce/ Product Management / Computer Science
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification (e.g. MBA, Honours in Digital/IT)
- Certifications such as:
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
- SAFe Product Owner / Product Manager
- Product Management (General Assembly, Pragmatic Institute, etc.)
