Job description
JOB OBJECTIVES:
· Assisting with the installation of material-handling equipment, electrical and DC systems equipment and conveyors
· Industrial Automation - this includes the setup, configuration and maintenance of all automation systems employed as part of the operation within logistics
· Maintaining all mechanical and electrical equipment in and around the Distribution Centre (DC) through preventative and corrective maintenance.
· Working with machinery and resolving hardware/and or software issues within newly implemented machinery.
· Inventory management of tools and spares, assets including but not limited to forklifts, reach trucks, pick to light hardware, conveyors, RF scanners, racking
· Communicate with DC management on any changes in operational capability of all the DC materials handling equipment’s and conveyor.
· Projects management of maintenance projects.
· Engagement with suppliers
JOB RELATED KNOWLEDGE:
· Conveyer belts Safety procedures for mechanical maintenance
· Use of hand and power tools
· Knowledge of mechanics related to DC equipment:
· Occupational Health and Safety standards and procedures
· Methods to assess quality and working capacity of machine equipment
JOB RELATED SKILLS:
· Planning Maintenance schedules of conveyor systems
· Carry out minor repairs on-site with spares on hand
· Recommend enhancements to current systems
· Ability to think in a pressurised/emergencies
· The ability to work with and handle tools and machinery
· The ability to perform heavy physical duties
· A strong service-orientation, high energy levels and a strong sense of urgency
· Problem solving, judgement and self-management skills
· Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
· Computer Literacy [MS Word and MS Excel (intermediate level)
· Sound accuracy, attention to detail and be methodical
· The ability to work independently, as well as within a team
Minimum requirements
EDUCATION:
Matric
A National Diploma or BTech in Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent NQF diploma
Valid driver's licence (Essential)
