We are looking to recruit a Senior Developer (Backend Service Developer) to form part of the Integration Services team in the Group IT department. The role will be based at Clicks Head Office in Cape Town and will report to the Technical Team Lead.

Job Purpose
To design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs that power enterprise applications. The role focuses on building RESTful web services and microservices in a containerized environment, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in .NET C# and extensive experience in backend architecture and development best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain RESTful web services and microservices using .NET C#.
- Implement containerized solutions using Docker and orchestrate deployments with Kubernetes.
- Collaborate with architects and product teams to define backend architecture and integration strategies.
- Ensure backend services meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production and development environments.
- Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and DevOps practices.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate.
Minimum requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 8-10 years of experience in backend development (preferably 10 years).
- Strong proficiency in .NET C# and related frameworks.
- Experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Solid understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Knowledge of API security standards (OAuth2, JWT, OWASP).
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture and messaging systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka).
- Exposure to performance tuning and scalability strategies.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and best practices.
